HBA 51st Anniversary

Celebrate with us as we share 51years of History of the Halifax Baptist Association!

 1957 -2008

The Halifax Baptist Association was organized in 1957. The vision to begin this association was led by B.D. Locke. He saw the need for a local association as he drove through East Volusia County. In August of 1957 an organizational meeting was held at First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach for the purpose of giving birth to a new association. On October 8, 1957 the Seminole Association and the Florida Baptist Convention recognized Halifax Baptist Association and encouraged the East Volusia Churches to seat messengers at its first annual session which convened at Flomich Avenue Baptist Church on October 16-17, 1958. There were 14 churches represented with 2 churches presenting petitions to join.

The Halifax Baptist Association has enjoyed a 51 year history of meaningful service in the Kingdom of God. As we look ahead to what God wants to do with this Association, we can anticipate an even more effective ministry.
